Attraction Info

With a name like Richmond Town you would expect this tourist attraction to be found in Virginia. Instead, Historic Richmond Town is found on Staten Island and is a 100 acre living historic village and museum. With 28 historic buildings that date back to the late 17th century with about half of them standing on the original building site the museums exhibits go all the way up to the early 20th century. Visitors to Historic Richmond Town can enjoy demonstrations that include weaving and tin smithing the way it was done when the village was founded all by employees who are skilled in their craft and wearing authentic costumes.

The oldest working farm and home in New York City are located in Historic Richmond Town. This was the original county seat of Richmond and all of the exhibits are furnished and decorated to represent the appropriate time period of the buildings. The living village was established in 1958 as a joint project of the Staten Island Historical Society, the City of New York and an independent nonprofit cultural organization.
