The Nike Blazer was first created in 1973 as a basketball sneaker and was worn by Geoff Petrie and the "Ice Man", George Gervin. They were created because their unique design, light weight, and height, gave players ankle support. Back in those times this shoe came in the Nike blazer as a hiking boot. To keep this sneaker popular and current Nike is creating and themeing a lot of the blazers after known and unknown stars. For example they have the "Who is Major Taylor" blazers which are themed after Marshall "Major" Taylor, the African-American cyclist. Nike has taken the creativity even further by themeing blazers after game consoles such as the PS3 and Nintendo Wii Nike Blazers.
