Mobile Home Furnaces

When you need a furnace for your mobile or manufactured home you must choose the right type and size to match your needs

Furnaces manufactured for mobile homes are very different from those made for standard homes. The right system must be selected to match the needs of your mobile or manufactured home. The furnace must be of a type which is specially made for use in manufactured homes. These mobile homes have smaller air ducts and sharp corners which do not allow air to flow as easily and freely as it can in a standard house.

A number of manufacturers who make full size home furnaces also make furnaces suited for use in mobile and manufactured homes. When you go shopping for a new furnace you should be aware that furnaces for mobile homes have a different ratings system than those for a standard home. Furnaces in mobile homes
are installed quite differently and have different ducting and venting systems than furnaces in standard homes.

The ducting system, must necessarily be considerably smaller than that in a standard home. Standard home furnaces are not made to be used in mobile homes and may produce dangerous conditions if installed therein mistakenly. Furnaces for mobile home use are made with what is known as a sealed combustion venting system which is quite different from that of a standard furnace.

For the best efficiency furnace heat vents in a mobile home need to be installed around the external walls. This is particularly the case in areas of cold climate. Sealed combustion heating units draw in air from outside the home and do not release any fumes into the home. Air comes into the mobile home via vents in the outside walls, ceiling or floors. The intake and exhaust units in a mobile home are sealed to prevent escape of air.

It is absolutely necessary to get a furnace which is of the correct size for your mobile home. This of course will depend greatly on the climate in your particular area. A furnace which might be suitable in a warmer climate could be undersized in colder climate areas. A furnace which is too small for your climate zone must work very hard to heat the home fully. The result of this continual running is inefficiency and money wasted. You must purchase a heating system which is right for your particular size of home in your particular climate. You will find it best to seek expert local advice on this subject.
