About two years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Bristol Show to see the latest models and equipment for myself.

Stetting off from the Manchester train station I arrived at Bristol and took the short stroll over to the Marriott hotel Bristol. It was £8 to get in to the Sound and Vision show, so armed with a map and brochure I was off to explore the show.

On the ground floor near the entrance I found a great selection of accessory companies, showcasing cables and AV Furniture, stands and cabinets. Spectral the German furniture manufacturer was there with a selection of their premium stands, and Atacama with their sleek stylish and performance enhancing racks.
In the large conference rooms and lounges big AV and Hifi brands were showcasing their latest creations. Mission, Wharfedale, Q Acoustics, Sony, JVC and Pioneer, were a few of the brands that were demonstrating their products in these rooms.
In the Wharfedale and Mission room, Mission where demonstration their 79 Series and MV series, all though they looked the part I was slightly disappointed with their quality of Sound, the new Diamond 10 speakers are suppose to be far superior. Upstairs in the bedrooms of the Bristol Marriott the rooms had been transformed into intimate demonstration rooms by each brand, allowing the visitors and show goers an up close and personal experience of their equipment.
At the Bristol show you are given the opportunity to buy directly from the manufactures, at some times discounted prices. Walking round the show I did come across some great bits of kit that I was interested in, there was a lot of products there that I would have to re-mortgage my house for. . I wrote down the models a was interested and gave Sound and Vision in Bolton a quick ring to see what prices they were offering on the same products.
The professionals at Sound and Vision could match and sometimes better most of the price I had been given from the retailers at the Bristol Show. I left the show really pleased with what I had seen and the savings I made by ring my local Sound and vision retailer for prices.
This year the Bristol show is expected to be even bigger, seeing the launch of some really amazing products, I would recommend however, you take the Sound and Vision number and see if they are cheaper.
