Click title/picture for details. offer US $177.43 Offered is this superb Silver Hammered Saxon / Viking Penny of King Aethelred 2nd which dates from c 978. I have taken the best possible photographs of this coin that I am able to and as you can see the condition is very good, I suspect it was originally from a hoard. It has no cracks but is a little edge raggy between 5 and 8 o'clock on the obverse. This coin is the Crux type and the moneyer was Leofstan from the London mint.
