Start early and groom your own dog while he is still a pup.

This is obligatory because if he can learn all these things at an early age, you'll have no problem doing other characteristic activities like washing, hair cutting, etc. and you will not be afraid to groom your own dog

Dogs naturally take care of most of their grooming wants by themselves, but they still need grooming help for doing many of their activities. Devoting some of your time in grooming your dog has its own rewards, too, for it strengthens your bond with him and makes it easier to diagnose early the diseases that can be deadly later on. You are not required to do all grooming activities on a daily basis. Many of them can be done on a weekly or monthly basis.

Usually frequent bathing is sensible to keep your best chum clean and healthy. But you may heed some of the tips for washing. Never give him a daily bath as it can cause dryness to the skin.

Brush your dogs hair frequently even he has short hair.

Brushing is a silent communication between you and your dog. It is a necessity for all dogs, whether they have long hair or not, because brushing stimulates the oils on your dogs skin. This may also free him of unwelcome dust and alert you about skin related sicknesses well ahead. Take care of his teeth, too.

Tartar builds up extremely simply on a dogs teeth. This collects bacteria from the food he has consumed, causing common teeth problems like gingivitis, bad breath, hideous looking teeth, for example. These issues can be simply stopped if you taught him to let you brush his teeth regularly. However, if your dog has built up so much tartar, it must be handled by a professional then. You should thus include cleaning his teeth right from an earlier age and make it part of the routine of learning to groom your own dog.
