Postdoctoral fellow, Salmonella Genetics. This position in the Department of Pathology at the University of California, Irvine, is available in December 2009 for up to three years. The research will involve the study of genes required for survival of Salmonella in harsh environments, including desiccation. Required experience is a Ph.D. in a relevant microbiology field. Preferred experience of applicants includes (1) at least two years of postdoctoral research in genetics: (2) experience in constructing mutants in enterobacteria: (3) experience in microarrays or in high-throughput sequencing, including bioinformatic analysis of such experiments: (4) experience in handling mice, and (5) experience in eukaryotic cell culture: (6) experience in FACS. Salary will be approximately $35,000 per annum.
