When thinking about homeschooling the first thing you have to think about is location, location, location. You have to make sure any program you use meets all of your state or county requirements. The last thing you want to do is by a year long program and find out at testing time that your child didn’t meet the states curriculum and is then held back a year.
While researching the programs that may be best for your child you should also look for local home schooling clubs. Many parents and PTA groups host events strictly so socialize home schooled children. These programs can often range from simple weekly study groups or sometime they can be as elaborate as forming sports teams. There really are no boundaries when it comes to the amount of clubs out there. You just have to look for them.
If you keep them up to date with the states curriculum and keep them involved with society then you may be surprised at how successful home schooled children can be. Often they can earn extraordinary scholarships from state and federal programs that can get them amazing college opportunities that may have otherwise been impossible for them to have achieved.
The ONLY thing you really need to consider when asking if home schooling is right for your child is this, “what is best for them?”. If you have researched your private school s and you find them to be lacking you may find this to be an easy question. Just make sure you keep their education as your highest priority and homeschooling may be the perfect choice for your family.
