Australia's second contribution to the world collection of coins commemorating the International Year of Astronomy (IYA), this coin is virtually impossible to get in mint condition, with all of the original mint trappings (including the custom clam shell case, box and COA) without costing an arm and a leg.
The coin contains an actual meteorite that fell to Earth around 4,000 years ago in the Campo Del Cielo (Field of Heaven) in Argentina. It carries a $5 legal tender face value in Australia, but its collectible value is obviously much, much more. Blending fine silver (.999 fine that is) in a proof strike together with material from space that fell to our planet nearly 4,000 years ago makes a wonderful collectible coin that is a must have for any serious coin collector's collection.
