I am very pleased with this console, it can do anything you are expecting and more, it a very recomendable purchase. The battery on the sixaxis controller last for a week playing 2 hours daily, the video and sound quality are excellent, plays BD movies flawlessly.
The online experience is very good, the integrated web browser works with everyting you throw at it.
In resume, I would buy another one with my eyes closed.

I had the PS2 and loved it. When the PS3 launched, I was curius to see all its features, and the new games. I'm still new at it but it is a great inovation to have an internet conection and I can't wait to get online and play the Multiplayer feature ( but i need to buy the games, i'm thinking about Call of duty and Fifa 10). I have GRID and KillZone 2. The only thing that i didn't like so much is that, i'm from Brazil so I don't have acess to the Play Station Store. Without that acess I can't get to know the new games that are coming up, and also can't download the Demos to see if i'm really interested. Sony don't sell PS here in Brazil but we import, we travel to the US to buy it, and I have friends over there ( the purpose of that travel is almost to buy it ...). Hope that Sony starts to produce / sell here in Brazil and open acess to the PS Store. Because the price that PSP 3 is sold today over here is 4 times the price in US.

I do not, as a rule, review products online but in the case of the PS3 I will make an exception. My reason is simple: To warn would be purchasers of the product that the wide-spread opinion of the PS3 being an extremely reliable piece of hardware is somewhat exaggerated. After two years of a good service, my 60GB model's Blu-Ray drive died unexpectedly. As I purchased this machine at a much higher price point than the current offer, I called SONY for support and received a less than stellar "resolution" to my problem. In short, nothing can be done. I am out of warranty. I must simply pay $150 for a repair or buy a new system. A quick look around the internet revealed that I am not alone. Many people have experienced this problem, some have filed a class action lawsuit, and there is a healthy market for replacement Blu-Ray drives and lasers.
Now, I do not believe this issue is pervasive, and hope the newer hardware is more reliable. In fact, I will, in all likelihood, purchase another system. But I would warn people not to expect the utmost quality from the PS3. My advice would be to purchase this on a credit card that offers an extension of the manufacturer's warranty. And, should one ever require support from SONY, do expect a very friendly brand of arrogance and inflexibility.
