What if you're too tired to work out? Do you "listen to the wisdom of your body" (as some alternative health gurus think you should) and just take the day off?

NO. PERIOD. I almost feel like that's enough to say, but probably it isn't. There is such a big fear nowadays in doing something when it just doesn't feel right. I think this is a new thing, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe its been around since I was in high school, its just that my coaches never believed in it? Who knows? I don't. And I don't care.

If you want to be a champion you have got to act like one. If you want to be healthier than your next door neighbor, you have got to be you instead of him or her. He or she (she/he) will take the day off because he or she is still too tuckered out from yesterday's 20 times around the 1/10th mile track. And he or she will do this because of what might happen if they didn't.

Friends, if you are like this, stop it. You aren't going to fall apart from putting out (unless you really have a problem that an MD should:d be treating!) Sure, you may have a sore muscle or two, but you'll find they will get better with motion. Forget the R&R method of making it to 65 in one piece. Do the push out harder today thing to make the tired muscle better today and make it to 140 in the tomorrows that follow.

Jack Lalanne does a 2 hour workout everyday at 95. 95, friends! That is older than both of my parents who both died with terrible illnesses. Maybe it isn't good to compare him to them. Maybe its sacrilegious. But can't we all start thinking that just maybe there is a way to stay clear of some of those awful scenarios that we all associate with old age?

Barbara Walters right now is 80. 80, amazing Barbara is 80 Who would believe it? And she is promoting Resveratrol as a de-aging supplement. I'm not. She is. Maybe I should follow suit. Maybe you should too if you're still reading.

All I know is that I am different at 61 than everyone I know, and I do not take today off when yesterday was just "too hard". Where are you at? Where do you think you could or should be?
