Take a cruise aboard a riverboat along the Waccamaw River, or rent a personal watercraft or pontoon boat.
Not-to-be-missed attractions in the Myrtle Beach area include the Children’s Museum of South Carolina, Alligator Adventure, Ripley’s Aquarium, MagiQuest, Family Kingdom Amusement Park & Water Park (home to the legendary all-wooden roller coaster, the Swamp Fox), Myrtle Waves Water Park, NASCAR SpeedPark and Wild Water Water & Race Theme Park. Popular day trips from Myrtle Beach include Huntington Beach State Park, which features a lagoon, maritime forest, salt marshes and three miles of the most well-preserved beach on the Grand Strand: Hopsewee Plantation, a South Carolina National Historic Landmark built in 1740: and Brookgreen Gardens, which is considered the finest outdoor presentation of American figurative sculpture in the world. Brookgreen Gardens is home to more than 900 works by 300 of the greatest names in American sculpture. In addition to the Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington Sculpture Garden, visitors to Brookgreen Gardens can explore the Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve, which contains acre upon acre of native plants and animals, as well as the E. Craig Wall Jr. Lowcountry Center, which features exhibits and educational programs that focus on the area’s rich history.
