"Worx Great Right Out of the Box!"2009-10-01
By Jarrod T Thompson (Junction City, KS)
The Worx mower is an outstanding mower. I unpacked it and mowed my rather large yard. After starting pull string gas mowers for my entire life, this push button start was outstanding. You do have to keep momentum going if you are out of shape and used to self-propelled mowers, but this mower is outstanding. I used the mulching attachment that is pre-installed and the yard looks great! It takes a few passes to get used to the turning radius, but other than that, this is a great mower and so quiet. I accidentally called my mom as my cell phone was in my pocket and I stopped the mower when I heard her repeating "hello".
If you are looking for a replacement for your noisy hard starting gas mower, this mower works great!
"Great Mower, though a bit heavy"2009-09-14
By C. Joseph Li
After some research, we went ahead with the Worx ECO lawn mower back in May 2009 against suggestions from my colleagues' advises to stay away from any non-gas mower because they simply don't have enough power. Boy they are wrong.
Counting both front and back yard, we have around 6-7k sqft of grass to cut. The front is St. Augustine and the back is Bahiagrass. The mower can chew through both front and back yard in one single charge. Going thru the back yard's Bahiagrass is a snap however its a slightly different story in the front and on the side with the St. Augustine. Given the mower's weight and the thick St. Augustine, its quite a workout to maneuver around the trees and shrubs. That is the only complain I have so far.
We did try the black&decker corded mower, but managing the cord is just too much to handle in the front yard around the shrubs and trees. So we just returned it and ordered the Worx.
The Worx cuts nice and clean, munch well. Not very noisy as I can still hear the cell phone ring. Powerful, though at times I do need to slow down to let it digest a bit more when the grass grew too long (like after 2+ week's time in rain season in Florida). Haven't used the bags yet as its already pretty heavy by itself with the battery.
So far I am very satisfy with the purchase. Don't have to deal with gas and no fume. Charging is easy, just leave it charge the night before I mow. Unplug it and put it right in the mower when I am ready to roll. And when I am done after an hour or so, it still shows it has 50% charge left, very nice. It would be very nice if its a self-propel as my lawn is not completely flat, going uphill takes some work. But then again, I can use the exercise.
I will recommend the mower to others, as long as they don't have big yard full of St. Augustine or similar thick broad blade grass.
"Great mower"2009-09-07
By Darth Ra (Land of Sugar)
I had bought the Worx GT 18V 2 in 1 Trimmer and was impressed by its out of the box and to the job capability. So, when the time came, I researched all options and decided to go "green" andgive this a mower a go. It arrived compliments of UPS, so check ur packaging. It took about 10 minutes to unpack and assemble. It comes with a bag or if you want u can go with the traditional out the side. I snapped the bag on and went to town since the battery was fully charged. I mowed the front and my massive back yard with no problems and still had plenty of juice left over. As far as charging the battery, follow the directions and you'll be good to go. Also, just blow or sweep off the top and make sure you keep your blade sharp. I love this mower and was well worth the price.
"Mostly good"2009-08-25

I bought the mower this Spring and it cuts well, the battery lasts 1 to 1/2 hours, and yes, it's heavy and a work out to push. It's quiet enough that I don't have to wear hearing protection and I can hear my cell phone ring. I've had one problem that made me take it into a shop for warranty work: the handle that adjusts the cutting height fell off after only a few times mowing. The repair shop I was referred to by the company wasn't aware they do warranty work, but they fixed it by replacing the rivets with nuts and bolts. Also, the plastic side discharge door falls off easily if bumped up against a tree or other object while mowing with the bag or mulching attachment. I like the removable battery. Although I signed the promise to retire my gas mower in order to get the [...] rebate, I lied. I still need it for back up, especially until I'm sure the Worx will be a reliable workhorse.
"Buyer: Just be AWARE........"2009-08-22
By MemoryLayne (U,S,& A!)
While I too would have preferred to wait for a lithium-ion powered mower I was forced to buy now, so based on research and buyer feedback I chose the Worx. Yes, it is fully assembled and easy to use(cutting height adjustment is an oh-so-cool breeze) and the removable battery was key to this choice(the only practical option for me)..but DO heed other reviewer's cautions when considering this purchase.
In all, the convenience of cordless is key and outweighs the slight negatives so I'm cautiously optimistic(provided I don't encounter some of the problems of fellow owners). One warning though:
DO BE SURE WHICH UNIT YOU'LL RECEIVE THROUGH AMAZON! Similar to another recent reviewer, Amazon sent me last year's model. As the other reviewer also shared, last year's model only had an advertised range of 12,000/sq.ft but Amazon is advertising this year's model which is supposedly capable of 17,500/sq.ft per charge. If you're specifically choosing this because of its range you could be disappointed if Amazon sends you the older unit. Yes, you can get an additional battery but that is quite a difference in range that should be considered(and in my opinion advertised properly). Supposedly customer service can't guarantee that the replacement would be this year's model so instead of bothering to return a functioning unit I instead opted for a discount rather than a refund. Despite this discrepancy(they should really just fix the listing), I toast Amazon customer service as they were quick to respond and to offer options so I'm thankful for that. In contrast, in dealing with Worx customer service... well, let's just say us product owners should be as well taken care of.
As to Worx's customer service I am weary of having to deal with them(unhappy campers everywhere...just read for yourself). While replacement blades are available elsewhere(at least for the time being), you might have a headache of a time dealing with Worx should you have a problem with your battery charger or need any replacement/additional parts. Again, something to consider in the overall buying decision but I'd certainly hate to have a charger make an otherwise operable mower useless because they don't offer replacements. If you can buy an additional battery, why not a flippin' battery charger? Wake up WORX!!
Pros:
~ Say goodbye to gas & oil. Don't come back now ya' hear.
~ Easy like Sunday morning start-up
~ Height and handle adjustment is a snap.
~ Removable battery is ssssweet.
Cons:
~ There will be the occasional uncut blade of grass(certainly more than I've experienced before but not enough of a con to outweigh the pros).
~ General "maneuverability" is slightly less than with other gas mowers. No, not from the increased weight as noted by other users...really not an issue for most. Just don't expect to be turning on a dime quite as precisely(when cutting around fenceposts, borders, etc.) as you might have before.
~ Front wheel setup does prevent getting in close to edges along the front of the mower, as does the side chute cover prevent close cutting along the right side of the mower. This leaves only the left side for closer edge cutting. As another reviewer stated: "one cannot mow head-on up to a fence, tree trunk or other barrier; you have to approach from the (left)side to reach that grass".
~ Would like to see battery chargers available through Worx for those that need a replacement or for those who choose to buy an additional one should the first become defective in the future(especially after the warranty expires).
