Will you be moving soon? A move is a big thing. Make the improper choice and you may be sorry for a long time. Here are some tips:
License & Insurance:
Be certain that you select a mover that is licenced and insured. Each mover must be licensed & insured - it's required by law. The type of license & insurance they must carry is usually different from state to state.
Place of Business:
Check to make sure that the moving company you choose has an actual address & that it's real. Having the company's actual address is essential if you need to make a claim. Beware of a mover that doesn't have a physical address.
Ask if the mover is a mover or a broker. A broker is not a moving company, they are a third party that links a potential client with a moving company in order to charge you a fee. They do not work with the moving company they just provide the mover with the lead. You have no idea who is going to show up at your door the day of the move.
Some Questions You Should Ask:
Is the Business Insured?
What is the degree of coverage the moving company provides for your move?
Does the movingcompany extend other coverage choices other than the basic liability?
What is the procedure to file a claim if necessary?
How Can Payment Be Made?
How does payment have to be made - cash, check, money order, or credit cards?
Is a down payment taken & is it refundable if I chose to not use your moving company.
At what point does payment have to be made?
Is The Company Credible?
Ask how long the mover has been in business?
Ask if the mover can provide references?
Ask if the moving company is accredited to perform moves in the locality?
Ask if the moving company uses their own trucks & staff or does the company subcontract equipment & employees?
