Start by taking your design sketches or CAD drawings and create design samples or prototypes that you can show to prospective buyers. If you don't sew, you can pay someone to sew your designs for you.

Then you want to make a list of department stores in your area. Research who the store buyers are and contact them. Set up appointments with each of the buyers to show your design samples. It's important that you target stores only that sell items that are similar in style to your designs. You don't want to waste your time with stores that don't have a market for your designs.

At your showing appointment with the buyer, it's possible that the buyer may want to place an order, so be prepared. Have a clear idea of how many items you can produce in a certain period of time. Also decide whether or not you need the buyer to deposit a partial payment up front.
