7-OXO-DHEA, a safe and natural metabolite of DHEA,was the subject of research for over a decade at the University of Wisconsinin Madison. Of over 150 DHEA compounds tested, 7-OXO proved to be the mostpromising form. Research has shown 7-OXO DHEA increases thermogenic enzyme activity andsupports healthy thyroid function. Increases in thermogenic enzyme activitymay increase body metabolic rate and promote weight loss without affectingcaloric intake. 7-OXO increases triiodothyronine (T3) levels in the body,which are linked to basal (or resting) metabolism. Slight elevation of T3may in turn result in higher metabolic rates for burning calories. However,7-OXO does not raise T3 levels outside the normal range, and T3 is differentthan T4 or TSH, the thyroid hormones measured for medical thyroid hormonelevel tests. In an eight-week clinical trial, the group taking 7-OXO significantlyreduced both body weight and body fat compared to the placebo-controlledgroup. Participants in both groups also exercised three hours per week andfollowed a healthy diet. Participants taking 7-OXO had three times the weightloss and fat loss as people in the other group. These participants lost anaverage of 3.76 pounds at the end of four weeks and 6.34 pounds at the endof eight weeks. In terms of actual body composition changes, people taking7-OXO lost 0.74% body fat at the end of four weeks and 1.8% body fat atthe end of weight weeks. 7-OXO DHEA also elevated T3 levels in study participants,though these levels did not exceed normal ranges. SAFETY STATSUnlike DHEA, 7-OXO does not produce clinically significant serum hormone(testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, estradiol, cortisol, or insulin) changes.And during the study, 7-OXO did not produce adverse side effects, whichhave been known to occur with some other weight loss products.REFERENCE: Colker C, et. al.
