Tar Tar is about 2 1/2 years old. He has a tragic past. Almost 2 years ago in a major snow storm we found him in our backyard. I took him into the vet and they said he would not have made it through the night. They also said he was starved by the previous owners due to the lack of mats and debrie in his fur. He was chipped to the breeder, and the breeder gave us the buyers' information and we contacted them. They told us that they gave him to a farmer but still had his papers. I told them if they surrendered the dog and papers we would not press charges so they agreed.
He is shy and timid of people until he trusts them, so we have been trying to work with him. We even put him through begginers training at petsmart and have the certification for that. He loves children and instantly bonds with them. It takes him a little while to get used to women, but it takes him the longest to get used to men. We do believe that he was abused, probably kicked, by a male.
With some patience he will trust and grow on you. He loves to cuddle and lick your arm while you pet him. Because of his need for attention we feel he is best suited for someone who is older and could give him a stable enviroment. But he does love children, so he would adapt to a family as well. It just might take him a little longer. Also, it takes him a while to adapt to other dogs. He gets along well with our dog, but it took some time. Same with cats.
We have always intended to find him a permanent home, but we wanted to try to help him first. It was not until now that we felt he was ready to find his new family.
