Stanzi thrives on a cerebral approach.

The Hawkeyes have scored on their first drive of the third quarter four times, and marched to a touchdown on their second series against Northern Iowa.

Penn State is the only team Iowa failed to score on in the opening 15 minutes after halftime.

"The coaches talk to us and write things on the board," Binns said. "Coach Ferentz comes in, and we're right back on the field.

"It kind of goes by real fast."

"The (players) who are experienced give us a lot of great information, some thoughts, some suggestions," Ferentz said. "And then (coaches) try to pull it all together and present it logically."
