If you have always wanted a horse but just couldn't commit or afford one of your own, then perhaps a lease or partial ownership is the way to go. I will provide all the tack and take care of vet and farrier services. Your responsibility otherwise it to take care of the horse, i.e., groom, pick hooves, blanket when needed, and most importantly, bring the apples and carrots. I would also be willing to consider a co-ownership in which all costs are split 50/50 which might be a more afordable way. I don't want to get rid of either of my horses but a financial strain is forcing me to look for alternatives.
Horse #1: Durango is a 15.3hh, 24 year old buckskin QHX. He is a wonderful horse all around and would make for a great lesson or even therapy horse. He is great for beginners to advanced and is great with kids as well. He is a wonderful trail horse. Don't let his age fool you too much as he still has plenty of spunk but I would prefer that no "hard" riding be done on him. He stands great for the farrier and grooming and he knows when you have a treat for him. He's quite comical at times and will chase you around the pastures if he knows you have a treat for him.
Horse #2: Mikasa (Mik) is a 16.3hh, 12 year old grey Hanoverian. He is a lot of horse and would require an experienced rider. He needs someone who can ride him about 2-3 days a week. He can be a tad testy at first but quickly does what he is asked if you know what you are doing. He has the most wonderful floating trot. He is not a great trail horse as he is a bit spooky but does just fine in the arena. He is a super sweet horse and will give you kisses and search your pockets for treats. He will stand still for the farrier and grooming. It is just out on the trails that he gets a bit nervous and unsure of his surroundings but with lots of time, he may learn to adjust. I am willing to consider co-ownership as well.
About the lease: You will be required to sign a lease of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months and will have the option to renew your lease at the end of the term or we can discuss other options. The lease fee is $150 per month and is a full lease which means you will be the only rider other than myself or my kids but I will always check with your schedule first.
About the property: Aledos Riverside Ranch is located on 40+ beautiful acres in Random Lake, approx. 40 minutes north of Milwaukee. The farm has a large indoor arena (perfect for those cold winter months) and a very nice outdoor arena along with a 60' outdoor round pen. There are trails all along the property and borders a small river. It makes for a beautiful scenic ride. There is also an outdoor wash stall with hot water. During the nicer weather, there is a pond made for both 2 and 4 legged to go swimming in. There is no barn drama (so don't bring any of yours) and everyone is very friendly.
