The journal Pediatrics published a study that found that Dance Dance Revolution, created by the Konami company, provided
as much or more activity than a brisk walk. Researchers
looked at 23 boys and girls ranging from age 10 to 13 and examined
their energy expenditure at rest and while watching TV. They then
examines energy levels while the children were playing Dance Dance
Revolution at two skill levels, and then walking at various speeds on a
treadmill.
Their findings showed that the kids burned three
times more calories playing Dance Dance Revolution than watching TV,
and more calories were burned then when walking on the treadmill. The
researchers were so impressed they recommended "active games such as
DDR or Wii be a complement to activities such as walking or cycling." Get Your Child (Or Yourself) Off The Couch Now!!!Learn more about the Konami Dance Revolution Here.
