THE FIVE BODY SHAPES
No matter what image you choose to present, if you're not dressing for your body shape, you are missing your mark. We're positive that no matter how you see yourself -- trendy, corporate or casual -- your ultimate goal is to look "together". But if you have prominent hips and you wear hip-huggers or if you're rail thin and you wear pinstripes, "together" is not the first word that comes to mind. Who wants to be upstaged by their body parts anyway?
Once you determine your body shape, you can easily answer the wardrobe questions that have plagued you for a long time. You will find out why you wear some clothes more than others. And why some things just don't look right any more.
Authors of Dress Me Now, Janet Behmer and Shirley Pierce say they have both been around long enough to know that there are hundreds of body types. But, observing their own changing bodies and others, they narrowed it down to five basic shapes that even Helen Keller would recognize. Check out your shape and what's right and wrong for you to wear.
• Wide on the Bottom - Venus de Milo
• Wide on the Top - Cleopatra
• Hourglass - Eve
• Slender - Diana
• Wide from Top to Bottom - Catherine The Great
