"Great Bike for Little Toddlers"2009-09-25
By P. Mathur
We got this bike for our 15 month old son. Although he's a little young for tricycles, we like that he can be pushed around in this instead of a stroller. The positives, and the reasons we bought this Kettler were - the parent push bar (A MUST), the locked front steering system, and the rear wheels turning capability. The cons are - the assembly!!! It took us nearly two hours plus to put this thing together; the fact that you have to buy the seat belt harness separately, and one small problem that seems to be occurring is that the fixture at the base of the handle bars comes loose easily, prompting our son to leave the handle bars and focus on the loose fixture. We have tried to fix it several times, but to no avail. Overall, the trike is pricey, so, we expected it to be perfect. We're hoping that our son gets at least 3-4 years out of it!! If yes, the bike may deserve 4 stars, but if it falls apart in a year or so, I would give it no more then 3 stars.

Time will tell if this tricycle is worth $200. My 2yo son is pretty big for his age and after checking out what the big box stores had I wasn't too happy. Nothing seemed to fit him. I bought the Kettler because it's adjustable and from what the specs and other reviews say it can take a beating.
Putting it together was fairly easy. The locking mechanism for the front wheels was super tight making it just about unusable. I simply added some teflon grease to the locking pin and hole and it was fine afterwords. The parent handle and rear steering are great. The freewheel is great. My boy can't peddle yet but I don't see how the freewheel feature will hold him back. Ya just might have to spend a little extra time with your kid that's all.
It's very well built and is plenty big enough for my big 2yo. If he likes it and plays with it then it was worth the money.

Very happy with the tricycle, my son loves it. Good German engineering and build quality. Great first tricycle, and will grow along with my son until he can move onto a two wheeler.

We bought this trike for our 2 year old son as a birthday gift, he absolutely loves it, and it is very easy to put together. The parential steering is easy to use,and easy to turn off. Now if we could just get him to get off it it would be nice, but as long as he is happy thats all that matters.

We got this tricycle with the attachment for two kids and so far we love it. I am a nurse, not an engineer, and I assembled it myself. It's true that the directions are horrible but I took my time and did just fine. Plan for a few hours of assembly. Giving it four stars because we haven't had it long enough to give it 5.
