Product Description
Offering a smooth transition from stroller to trike, the brightly colored Kettler Kettrike Air-Navigator Tricycle includes a parental control steering system that locks handlebars into place for parental guidance when using the optional pushbar. The Auto-Freewheel allows your child to rest his or her feet on the pedals while you guide them with the pushbar.
Using the optional tandem add-on, you can use Air-Navigator for two children.
When your child is ready for biking, a simple on/off switch (located under the Kettler logo on the handlebar stem) unlocks the front steering stem and the Air-Navigator operates as a standard freewheel tricycle. The durable metal frame has an easy step-through design, and it can quickly be adjusted to accommodate your growing child or fit another rider. You can also add another rider with the separately available Kettler tandem add-on (see image).
The three Komfy Ride tires are filled with air (via regular Schrader valves), which give the trike true road gripping traction and responsive maneuvering. The blue bucket seat provides excellent riding comfort, and the sturdy yellow tipping bucket on the back of the trike is great for transporting everything from toys to sand. The frame is made of high carbon steel and has a fade-resistant polyester powder coat finish in brilliant red. This tricycle meets ASTM safety requirements.

"Definitively no good for pedaling"2009-09-30
By Diana (Trumbull, CT USA)
I thought that my two years old daughter was not able to pedal yet, until she used her friend's tricycle and she started pedaling like a professional. I felt horrible, because I was underestimating my child's pedaling skills. Her friend, who is a pro in pedaling could not even start moving when she hoped on my daughter's "Air Navigator." I regret having spent $200 in this supposedly very good tricycle. I would not recommend anybody to buy this trike. The auto - free wheel design is not a good feature.
"great product - perfect for my little/big boy"2009-09-12

We started out with fisher/price trike and then saw this at the Disney store - SOLD on that. Would highly recommend it - expands to fit your growing child. A+++++++++++++
"Great Tricycle, challenging to assemble"2009-09-08
By Gadget_Guru (NYC)
Just bought the Air Navigator for our 1.5 yr. old. Took me a solid hour to assemble with limited instructions (mainly graphical with very little text). You must read the instructions CAREFULLY..they are well thought out but have to be followed perfectly.
The Air Navigator is very well built (great tires!), and a smooth ride even on the rough pavements of NYC. The pushbar could be a bit more solid for $220 but it works well.
Buy the seat belt accessory and the footrest (for smaller kids whose feet don't yet reach the pedals).
"Metric hardware - beware!"2009-06-15
By R. Solomon
I decided to splurge on my 2.5 year-old and buy him this trike - I thought it would be the Cadillac of trikes. Though it has been okay, it is not stellar. My husband assembled it, and could not get the screw that secures the bucket latch in. We thought the screw was the wrong size, though a Kettler rep has since told me this screw is self-threading and significant force is needed to insert it. Anyway, we took the trike to the hardware store to buy a new screw, but unfortunately since Kettler is a German company, they use metric screws, which are not available here in the US. So we have been using it without the rear bucket, which has been fine. I think a basket would have been much more fun than a bucket anyway. But now we have lost a nut & washer for the bolt that secures the seat to the frame. So for now the trike is unrideable, until parts from Kettler USA arrive :( I really do regret buying from a German company - an American product would have been so much easier!
"Not good for small to average sized child."2009-05-30
By NYC Mom (Forest Hills, NY USA)
I bought this trike when my son was about 1.5 yrs old. He couldn't pedal back then, but I attributed that to his young age and was okay just pushing him. Now, he's almost 3 and still has a lot of trouble pedaling, not because he can't pedal, but because the pedals are still not close enough. He's about average size for his age. Also, it is difficult to navigate when pushing this trike. On the positive side, the air filled tires make it a nice ride. If I had to purchase a trike again, I would save my money and buy a Radio Flyer.
