1921 Silver Dollar Coin
In truth there were two 1921 silver dollars minted that year the most well-known is the Morgan (Liberty Head) Dollar named after designer George T. Morgan. The coins were minted between 1878-1904 and again in 1921. The mint cities were Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, Carson City and New Orleans.
The Carson City silver dollars hold their value because of the low numbers made, and have a CC between the D and the O on the reverse side of the coin.
Morgan silver dollars are plentiful and make a good coin for starting out your coin collection; they are inexpensive yet there are a few undiscovered Morgan dollars still available that will fetch a pretty penny.
Uncirculated Morgan silver dollars were melted down to make room for the new dollar.
In December of 1921 the Peace silver dollar was minted Mr. Morgan lost out to designer Anthony de Francisci who used his wife as the model for the coin. The coin was named the Peace dollar because it commemorates the signing of formal peace treaties between the Allied Forces, Germany and Austria. Peace dollars values are higher than Morgan dollars because there weren't as many minted.
Both dollars still have some rare coins awaiting discovery by some fortunate person or persons.
