With many people struggling in the recession holidays in England are becoming more popular. The beautiful Cotswolds offer one popular holiday venue, and although many people can't afford a 2 week holiday, a Cotswolds weekend break is an ideal time and place to relax and recharge your batteries.
The Cotswolds is an area of middle England which includes parts of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Cirencester, Chipping Cambden, Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton and Burford are all included, and the famous Cotswolds Water Park are all big tourist draws.
The Cotswolds is famous for its sandstone buildings. This stone is a honey colour, and most buildings have been made out of this to give a charming and quintessentially English environment. What is more appealing to most people though is the relaxing pace of life.
You don't find as many chain stores in the Cotswolds, which is a break from the norm. Instead you will find lots of independent shops, offering a wide variety of crafts, collectables, souvenirs, tempting food stuffs, art and so on and so on.
Finding somewhere to eat or drink is not a problem either. You can have a cup of tea in one of the beautiful tea rooms, or something stronger in one of the old English pubs. You can also eat at one of the cafes for a quick snack or enjoy a 3 course meal in one of the high end restaurants.
For accommodation on your Cotswolds weekend breaks there are also options available. There are larger hotel chains of course, but if you are going to such a beautiful part of the country such as the Cotswolds, why stay in such a uniform place. There are of course small B and B's, but they cannot offer the full range of services a Hotel can.
