Astrology Birth Charts
To put it quite simply, your astrology birth chart is very much like a photograph of the heavens at the moment you took your very first breath in this world. It clearly shows where the planets (including the sun and the moon) were at that moment in time.
Astrology Houses
This is shown in the form of a wheel divided into 12 different Astrology Houses. Each house in your astrology birth chart represents a different area of your life. For instance, there is a house of money (2nd house), a house of close relationships (7th house) and a house of travel, philosophy, and higher education (9th house).
Astrology Planets
Each of the planets symbolizes a distinct 'mission' that you have come to this Earth to master. For instance, your Sun Sign and its location is literally where your soul wants you to shine in this life. It is where your main focus is and where you feel most at home. Another good example is the planet Saturn. It is where you have neglected your duties and/or affairs in previous lifetimes and where you must work very hard to succeed.
Astrology Aspects
In addition, quite a bit of geometry is involved in your astrology birth chart. The angles that the various planets make to one another are known as an aspect. There are 5 major aspects and then several minor ones. These aspects allow an astrologer to more deeply penetrate into the psychology of an individual. For instance, a square is defined by two planets making an angle of 90 degrees to one another. This aspect describes an intense dynamic between two planets that can inject a person with either frustration in the respective houses that the two planets reside in OR a fighting spirit to overcome the obstacles that are in this person's way.
Zodiac Signs
The zodiac is a celestial belt of stars that provides the backdrop to what appears from Earth to be the path of the sun around the Earth. A planet being in a certain zodiac sign informs an astrologer as to the "style" that planet will behave in. All of this information is included in a birth chart reading as well.

When an astrologer looks at your astrology birth chart, he is interpreting the abundant symbolism of the planets, the signs they are in, the house they are in, and the angles between them.
