"TERRIFIC HANDHELD-- IT DOES WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO"2009-08-07
By Claude Bouchard Jr. (Frederick, MD)
This is a terrific little handheld vacuum. It does what it's supposed to do: pick up small non-liquid spills. I use it primarily for the occasional big fur tufts that my Siberian Husky leaves behind on the carpet, or for a quick dusting of the car.
I don't understand why people are ragging on the battery life. Yes, it will only last for about 6 minutes if you use it in one continuous non-stop use, but who really does that? Handhelds are for quick pick-ups that last just a few seconds (in my opinion, anyway). If you need to do more cleaning than that, then you should take out the standard vacuum.
I have two complaints, however:
1) This is *not* a lightweight vacuum. It's a bit hefty and it's even a bit awkward to carry around.
2) At that price, Mr. Dyson could have included a few more accessories.
Other than that, it's a good hard-working vacuum. Whether it's worth its price is up to you. Personally, I think it was a very good purchase.
"Poor Battery Life"2009-07-07
By R. Beliveau (Gloversville, NY USA)
I too experience poor battery life with the product. The Vacuum is a nice handheld unit but I can't even make it up a flight of stairs without having to recharge. Anyone know if there is an extended battery on the market for the Dyson DC16?
"The handheld is terrible - stopped working after 1 year"2009-06-30
By Brenda Norton (Avon, OH USA)
I owned this for about a year when it stopped working. I had to continually depress the power button to get it to operate. Dyson customer service acted like it was all my fault and I was not operating it correctly, even telling me that they had no idea what I was talking about the way I explained my problem. They had me take it all apart, wash and clean everything, put it back together and call back. Then they told me they still couldn't help me. Of course, the one item I can't find my receipt for is this - it was a gift. It's not like any one else makes a vacuum remotely like this. I love my Dyson upright but will never try another cordless. I hope I don't ever need customer service on the upright.
"Great little vacuum"2009-06-28

This rechargeable Dyson is exactly what I have been looking for. All others I tried didn't have the suction power I wanted. This does
"Rubbish"2009-06-25
By Mark Murray (New York City)
This is an incredibly useless product. It never worked for me and eventually would only operate for short bursts of a few seconds at a time. Over time Dyson replaced the 'battery charger' which did not help, they then replaced the battery which also did not help. Finally when the conclusion from customer service was that I needed a new 'body' the product was out of warranty and I was told that I would have to buy that from them. Since this cost more than a new Hoover handheld I politely declined. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I will not buy any further Dyson products after this
