"Perfect for us"2009-08-20

light - battery lasts just long enough to get about 3 rooms done which keeps me from marathon cleaning. Very pleased with the product
"Don't Waste Your Money"2009-08-19
By J. R. O. Neal (Denver)
The concept here is great, but the execution fails. The unit itself is light and easy to use. It also has acceptable pick up ability. However, THE BATTERY IS HORRIBLE. 15 minutes of use for a 3 hour charge is not worth the price and a second battery is $70. I contacted Hoover twice via email and have not received a response.
Bottom line is, if you want to clean 1 room, the unit is great. If you want to clean more, forget it. Hoover needs to use better quality batteries and/or a larger pack to provide users with more cleaning capacity for the amount of money spent on this thing. Presently, the cordless feature doesn't make up for the frustration that occurs when the battery fails so quickly. We're looking at competitors models to replace this inadequate, over priced dissapointment.
"Worth the Price?"2009-08-19
By Michelle Brown (Cedar Park, TX)
I bought this when my little canister vac I had for the hard floors downstairs finally broke down. I did my research, and this one seemed to have gotten the most consistently good reviews of all the stick vacs. It is pricey though.. More than double most of the other stick vacs. But is it twice as good? I don't know. I'd be inclined to say no.
It was a cinch to put together, and I love that it's cordless and the battery actually has a charger so I don't have to charge the whole vacuum like some models. I like to keep my vacuum in the laundry room where it's handy, and besides the power I have for the washer and drier, I don't have an extra outlet in there. So now I can store the vacuum and charge the battery somewhere else.
It is amazingly light and easy to push around. Like I said, the fact that it's cordless is AWESOME! My last vac wasn't, and I hated having to keep moving the plug around. The downside to this battery though, is that if you're going to vacuum any rugs at all, the charge may last 10 minutes. And-- a spare battery costs as much as most of the other brands of stick vacs! $60+! I do like that the motor doesn't lose power as the battery drains, and I love how there are indicator lights to let you know you need to hurry up and finish.
I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and 3 kids (plus a not-so-neat husband) and it does a really good job picking up the hair, crumbs and kitty litter on hard floors. It doesn't get in the corners though. It does a fair job of getting the edges of the walls IF you have the room to line up the side of the machine with the baseboard. However the front edge and corner of the machine don't do well at getting to the corners or edges of the floor at all. It left an obvious pile of sand in the corner that I just couldn't vacuum up unless I got down and scooted the mess out of the corner. This machine would be a lot better if it had a crevice attachment-or even a hose to get those corners and up under the kickboards of the cabinets. Many of the lower priced stick vacs out there have that feature, and even some you can remove a part and have a hand vac which would be handier for stairs and furniture. It does an okay job on area rugs when you use the brush, however that drains the battery twice as fast. Of course it's not as good as a regular vacuum for rugs/carpet, but it does a fair enough job for in-betweens.
The dirt cup is very difficult to open. I push the button and it doesn't just "pop open" like it claims it should. In fact, the first time I opened it, I was afraid I was going to break it by trying to pry it open. The seal really sticks-- so you do have to get your fingers in there to open it up. I do like the filter though, as opposed to those papery pleated ones that seem to clog constantly and are a mess to clean.
So let me lay it out easier:
Pros: Light weight, good suction, maneuvers easily and goes from hard floors to rugs/carpets beautifully, cordless with separate battery charger, sweeps rugs/carpet reasonably well
Cons: Very expensive for a stick vac, very short battery life, no hose/crevice tool (or removable hand vac), not very good in corners, not very good clearance under furniture, expensive extra/replacement battery, only comes with one battery
All in all, if this vacuum were half the price it would be fantastic! But for being more than twice the going rate of most of the other stick vacs out there, it should be at least twice as good and have at least as much to offer in way of extra tools/hand vac.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It cleans well, it's light, works well on bare floors and carpets. It cleans right up to the edge of the wall. The battery lasts long enough to get the job done and it recharges quickly. Using it on stairs is a bit ackward but less difficult than lugging a canister around. I have a Roomba as well and I have not used it since I got the Linx.

We have a very large tile area and dog hair, this little machine picks up everything. Work very good on our carpet also.
