Woodland Lakes is a private, gated, recreational community. The front gate is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is open all year and there are over 200 families that live there on a permanent basis. The children go to Bourbon for school and the bus picks them up and drops them off right at the front gate.Because of its year round status, it has a great many amenities for its residents and visitors. There is a Christmas party, an Easter egg hunt, a Halloween party, a huge 4th of July spectacular, a Memorial day and Labor day party. They frequently have fire works, ATV and golf cart parades at many of these events. There is a movie night, a game night and a community center that can be reserved for personal use (at no cost to owners!). The "neighborhood-watch" patrol is made up of members of the residents and a deputy sheriff is kept on staff courtesy of the Washington county police department. You are protected by the Sullivan fire department and have access to a medi-vac helicopter, which takes you to St. Louis.There are two property owner's meetings a year. The first one is held on the first Saturday in October and the second one is on the second Saturday in April.
