Pumping is so pathetically 90's. Get over it. No more kicking on that board to get you around! The skateboards of the future are all electric.A saw a clip about electric skateboards. Since then I have had at least three different boards, which is as much a tribute to how much I love these babies. But unfortunately as it is to their biggest weakness, they break easily. But I still keep buying new ones or buy parts for the old ones.Besides being fast, it's FUN!!! Instead of taking a car for short trips, I now ride my way to the paper stand and back. It feels like you are flying very low. When you zoom around you look forward (obviously), meaning you never see your feet. The range is also quite decent. You control the board with a pistol grip controller that navigates the acceleration and regenerative braking. It is pretty simple to ride a electric skateboard even if you haven't ridden a skateboard before. The only drawbacks of the skateboards are that they break fairly easily and go slowly up hills. E-Glide has a very good guaranty policy. Ninety days warranty on the board and electronics. The boards also come with a six month battery warranty. There are two companies who make these skateboards: Altered, formerly known as Exkate and E-Glide. Altered boards have a neat wireless controller, but the boards are made in China and the customer support is not the best.E-Glide, on the other hand are extraordinarily dedicated and care what they are selling. E-Glide concentrates on only using top of the range components to build their electric skateboards. Additionally they're the only electric skateboard company who doesn't import premade powerboards from China.I personally ride the E-Glide "44 Magnum" a Madrid board designed by Crossbow USA. Loads of concave, and beautiful lines. At 44 inches in length, it is a Ferrari among electric skateboards. Until somebody invents the Hover-board, these babies are it!!!.Besides being a journalist, author and living with his family in California, Gabriel Perez is a dedicated electric skateboarder and reports about the latest trends and gadgets.
