Customer Reviews This router rocks! by .. W. Miller (Houston, TX, USA) Okay, this is my 3rd router...I've been progressively upgrading over time...and this one is far superior to the first entry-level router I bought about a year ago as well as the mid-grade crafterman I got at an estate sale a while back.. Didn't fit the RTP1000 portable Freud router table I bought but Freud customer service is going to modify the table mounting plate to fit this router.... Excellent customer service thus far.
Freud FT2200EP by .. Joe Forest (Birmingham, AL) This is a very flexible and powerful router for the money. Casting is rough, and some accessories (dust port) seem very much an afterthought. Bought from Amazon, was not packed well and arrived with handles cracked. But I called Freud and could not be more pleased with their courtesy and speed of response. Still had me hunting for a rare metric bolt to replace handles with slightly revised version of handle for this Spanish made router. So my overall impression is mixed but generally positive.
Recently received this router. by .. Wayne (MD USA) Router technology has changed quite a bit since buying my 1HP plunge in 1993. This router has real depth control, a speed setting so you can match the manufacturers specification, and it maintains that speed whether you're cutting through an easy or difficult patch of the same board. The on/off switch is easy to use and so is installing and removing router bits. It handles 1/2" and 1/4" bits. The later uses an adapter that comes with the router. The tool provided is solid too - not junk that comes with many routers. The fence is more than just the typical steel bar you can bolt a wood fence to. It has an adjustment - really nice. I got this on sale on Amazon for $132. It's worth the non-sale price. If weight is an issue for you this is a heavy unit.

Collet nut removal by .. Harper (western Oregon) I am a new buyer of this router and have noticed on some of the review forums that people are having trouble getting the collet out of the nut. I found that if you are able to close the collet it will fall out of the nut. To this aim I looked for something that would close the collet without damage to it. I found that you can use a 1/2 inch copper sweat fitting to compress the collet. The copper is softer than the collet so should not do any damage to the collet. One should make sure that the fitting is clean and that you are not abraiding the collet with a dirty fittings.
