Customer Reviews Overtool for the job by .. M. J. Mccaffrey (Conn., United States) My electrician loaned us his commercial reciprocating saw back in February when we needed to remove a partition wall in our laundry room (he's a good guy). It was a metal-cased brute, and it did the job quickly and efficiently. I saw all kinds of possibilities for other jobs around the house, and so started searching.
This saw is well-engineered, and does not suffer from underpowering. In its maiden run I cut through the pile of lumber scrapped from the partition project--which sat outdoors through the rest of the winter and spring. It was littered with nails, and many of the plywood pieces were saturated with rainwater. The saw didn't care. It cut through every piece quickly and expeditiously.
The reciprocating action made these rough cuts more quickly. I also experimented with a fixed action, and noticed I had a lot of control over how the cut progressed--even though I was doing it freehand, it looked like it was being guided.
I encountered little to no vibration. Blade installation was very easy and positive. The cord attaches with a simple twist. The whole thing stores in a dedicated case.
The best part, for me, is that I purchased this saw factory-reconditioned, and I believe it was a great value for the price I paid. Highly recommended.
The best Sawzall by .. Tighe White (Hayesville, NC USA) This is the toughest, longest lasting tool of its type. I have 3 of them, the oldest is several years old, been used and abused, still going strong. From Tighe White Construction, tighewhite. com
Milwaukee is still the best by .. T.W. (Idaho) I have used many different brands of recip saws in the past and have always liked milwaukee the best. I was a little skepticle about the rotating handle feature being worth the extra money but decided to give it a try. I have found that I use it almost every time I use the sawzall and am very glad I went with the rotating handle version. I will see how that feature holds up with use and abuse but so far I am very happy.
Destroys things by .. A. Barnett (206) This is an absolute beast of a saw. The rotating handle is a nice luxury, but basically, this saw is great becasue it will cut 2x material almost as fast a a circular saw. The orbital action is great, but the speed control i've found to be of limited use, because its not a transmission, but rather just a limiter on how fast the motor will spin. Therefore, its not really a whole lot better than just using the variable speed trigger. Also, this saw is huge and heavy, so i use it in conjunction with a cordless DeWalt recip saw, which i can use in less demanding situations. One last thing: If you get this saw, don't skmp on the blades. Get the thick, good quality Milwaukee or Rigid ones. Lesser blades will give out way too fast.
Awesome tool by .. S. Barnett (Graham, WA) I actually bought this as a gift for my husband but I ended up using it first. My neighbor and I cut up her old hot tub into pieces. It was so easy we went next door and cut up her moms too! Three trips to the dump and we never even had to change a blade.
