Crazy ride, crazy driver.

Really liked it but wish it had been longer by .. Avid Reader (Groton, Connecticut) I love horror stories and though this one was graphic, I thought it was entertaining (though some parts did make me squirm). My only complaint was that the ending was too short. It ended too abruptly and the final fight between the two villians could have been a major blow up but it was more like a fizzle. Just wish the authors had really delved into the final scenes. It would have been more satisfactory to readers IMO. Other than that, I'm hoping the authors submit more stories. I'm a fan!
Vile and small minded by .. Orpharion (San Diego, CA USA) If you love snuff films, pulling wings off insects, or setting animals on fire, this story may appeal to you. Imagine a horror writer like H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker or Stephen King saying to themselves, let's skip plot and character development and go straight to the bloody gore. This story is an amateur little noise and a boring waste of time.
Decent writing, but sort of bland by .. Margaret Durbin (Minnesota) If you like serial killer novels then there will be nothing earth shattering here. Certainly don't download it if you don't like serial killer novels because it will likely traumatize you.
While the gruesomeness is clearly entertaining to the authors (and okay, to the readers too, otherwise we wouldn't read this stuff) it was not terribly frightening. I like the books where I'm looking under the bed for a week after reading.
There was certainly nothing imaginative enough here that made me want to go out and buy books by either of the authors.
I have to say the concept, especially the third chapter, was neat.
A quick read, deliciously macabre and nightmare inducing by .. Heath L. Buckmaster (Sacramento, CA USA) I love a good horror story, and love it even more when it doesn't play around and just gets to the good stuff. This book is a very quick read - I got through it in less than 30 minutes, with a 5 minute interruption to get a beverage refill.
The book gets you from the opening line and doesn't stop there. I was sure after the first page that I was going to have nightmares after reading it (and I'm not sure that I won't).
Two deliciously macabre and evil stories intertwine. Chapter one gives us the driver who delights in picking up hitchhikers and having his way with them before disposal. Chapter two gives us the hitchhiker who takes advantage of the benevolent offering of a ride and turns it into a 5 minute or less nightmare for the driver(s). Chapter three brings both characters together for a rush of a ride to determine who will win out in the end.
Crazy can happen in the driver's seat or the passenger's seat in this short story from Jack Kilborn and Blake Crouch. I'd say this a great addition to your horror short story collection, with an ending that will make you chuckle with sinister glee.
