Customer Reviews

disapointing cooker by .. Wayne Stevens ()
This didn't turn out to be the top quality product I expected from Presto.
The cooker is light, not much heavier in fact than a old copper bottom Revere Ware pan. This results in two problems-

1. Hot spots. The bottom simply isn't heavy enough to spread heat well.

2. Difficulty putting lid on the hot cooker. If you use the cooker to sear meat, for example, you have to let it cool down before the lid will go on and seal. I assume that because of the light construction the pan distorts enough when hot to cause this problem. Presto addresses this in the instructions by advising the user to try forcing the lid on with one hand on the front side of the lid and the other on the handle. Alternately they recommend letting the cooker cool before putting the lid on. Given that pressure cookers are designed to save time and energy this cooling step makes no sense.

The one recipe I tried from the included booklet (apple crisp) included a mistake in the amount of water resulting in apple soup. Come on Presto, this isn't your first recipe book.

Lastly, Presto, the grand old American name in pressure cooking is now made in China.

presure cooker by .. clearblue (florida United States)
I love it. I would go for the 6 quart for extra room next time.

A must utensil in every kitchen by .. K. Gandhi ()
Every family have to have this Presto cooker. I can cook any hard dry beans, chicken curry, rice etc. in this cooker in no time.
Many ONE POT MEALS I have cooked in this Pressure Cooker. It is really time saving and food cooked in it taste better because we do not loose nutrients.
My daughter being a busy college student, loves this Pressure cooker, because it saves lots of her cooking time.

Excellent cookware for two people plus! by .. Al R. Shoyeb (San Diego, CA USA)
I've had 6 qt & 8 qt aluminum cookers since 1980 this one is my 7th pressure cooker, 4 qt presto and its stainless I love it, this is an awesome product with enough safety.

I just got second 4 qt presto as gift for friend & a young couple for there "house warm party"

I am planning to replace 6 qt aluminum cooker with 6 qt stainless pressure cooker in future.

Would certainly recommend this!

Thanks Amazon for keeping your prices competitive, and that Free Shipping is GREAT!!!

Pressure Cooker by .. B. W. Hirn (Augusta, Georgia)
This 4-quart cooker heats up and cools down much faster than it's 8-quart big brother. It's also easier to clean up because it's not so heavy. The bottom is very flat and it sits well on my glass top stove. The cooking rack is stainless steel too. I like my 25 year old cook book better because it has more recipes. Use a paper towel to wipe a thin layer of cooking oil on the top of the pan where it meets the gasket the first 2 or 3 times you cook with it. That will prolong the gasket life and make it easier to open and close the lid. Pressure cooking is the best fast food you'll ever eat. I looked at all the new style pressure cookers but the pressure regulators were all too complex which just invites problems. Simple is better. I've been cooking with Presto pressure cookers for 42 years. My first one was a hand-me-down from Grandma and I replaced it because it was aluminum. I still use my 40 year old 8-quart stainless cooker when we have a lot to cook.
