This set was easy for him to build by himself. Once he built it he has a great time "flying" it around the house. The set is small as the number of pieces and the dimenstions indicate so don't expect anything big. I think it is a good introductory Star Wars set. The price on Lego.com is $9.99 plus shipping which is just a little more than Amazon's price.
