Customer Reviews Bigger than you'd think, flimsy. by .. H. Lewis (AR) The big board is bigger than you'd think when you actually see it. Only complaint is how flimsy it is. It's also a little expensive but I haven't found it cheap anywhere.
nice product by .. Yasha (New York, USA) This is a very useful addition to any LEGO set. Note that the board is rather flexible.
Great Building Surface by .. Reba (South Carolina) We gave this to our son for Christmas and he loves it. It's much bigger than the ones that you get with a Lego set and provides a large area to build on. Keeps him occupied for hours!
A Nearly Useless Accessory to Lego Building Blocks by .. J. K. Van Riper (Jacksonville, North Carolina USA) I bought this building plate for my granddaughter knowing its very serious limits. It is not rigid enough to support any Lego project unless it is placed on a flat hard surface. After it arrived I immediately glued it to a 15 x 15 inch board to make it usable. Why would Lego produce such a chintzy product?
Makes Lego creativity possible, but not for shag carpet and don't pay too much! by .. lighten_up_already2 (Kirkland, WA USA) Without a baseplate, the world of Lego creativity is rather limited. Building with Legos sans baseplate is like building a house without pouring a foundation.
Sadly, these baseplates are thin and flexible, so you won't likely break it if you drop it, but you also aren't likely to get too far if you try to build that skyscraper on a shag carpet. I bought one of these for each of my boys and we'll either use them on the dining room table or use a hard surface over the carpet, or glue the baseplate to a thin piece of plywood.
Finally, you can get these at toy stores for about ten dollars, but for some reason I've seen these priced at two or three times that from various on line businesses. Shop around because it isn't necessary to pay much over ten bucks for these things.
