Customer Reviews VERY Disappointing by .. K. Bell (Pittsburgh, PA) I just put my 7 year old to sleep sobbing. After working very hard doing choores and saving every penny he could find, he finally bought the Crystal Sweeper. This poorly designed toy has been his first serious disappointment in the Lego brand. The design simply stinks!! There is no way to actually play with it without it falling apart. By the way, it is absurd to charge $69.99 for this!!! He is begging me to find a way to take it back. What a shame to lose a lego enthusiast at such a young age!! As a general rule, the ideas are great, and they are fun for children, but this failure is awfully expensive!! By the way his biggest chore was doing DOG POOP DUTY in our yard!!! I forgot to mention that we have several very big dogs!!!!!
Fun fun fun! by .. Bridgette Heath-isigan (Brooktondale,NY) I just got this for my son. It took us a little over an hour to put it together. Pros: 2 rock monsters, 2 miners, a catapult for the Rock monsters. Crystals, a dirt bike, which is located on the sweeper, and 2 dynamites. It holds rather well. There aren't too many pieces to knock off accidentally. Cons: One has to remove the top of the cabin in order to get the marine in or out. Sweeper functions well on flat surfaces, however, I wouldn't recommend using it on carpet, which the sweeper tends to slide and it won't function properly. Crystals are easy to lose (as it usual with small Lego parts). Would be much better if the rock monsters had vehicles also.
Overall, it is a lot of fun. He is certainly looking forward to add more Power Miners to his collection. Worth the value.
Warning! falls apart too easily by .. () I am nine and very good at putting legos together, this took ALOT of time and when I was done, I couldnt even play with it and then it fell apart so I dedided to take it apart and try again! I put glue on the wheels to try and keep them on, the problem is, you can't PLAY with this toy, the rock monsters and crystals and figures are fun, the sweeper part doesn't really put the rockmonsters and crystals in the container its ok but you may not want to get this toy.
Pretty fun! by .. J. Tant (Under the cultural penumbra of Washington DC) I'm not sure why my 5 year old loves the Power Miners, but he does. He received this as a gift a few weeks ago.
He needed a little help to put the turbine and things together, but he built the rest by himself. I found the "sweeper" part of the rig didn't always sweep properly. It seemed reliant on the proper positioning of two gears on one side of the toy, along with a ramp-like contraption being in *just* the right place. Even the slight misalignment of any of these would make the turbine either stick or spin ineffectively.
That said, he played with it for quite a while and it stood up well. He's since disassembled it and combined it with another set to make something he calls a "Crystal Crawler." I do like how there are instructions on the website to make new toys with the existing sets.
Overall I'd say this is a hit for LEGO, even if I don't entirely understand the allure.
Lego Crystal Sweeper by .. Kathy Bug (West Dundee, IL United States) My nine year old grandson is fascinated with Legos and the Power Miner series is really an imaginative addition to their product line. He and his best buddy have spent hours constructing and playing with various sets but this one is his hands down favorite. It's an investment well worth the money as the value of learning to follow directions coupled with the imaginative rebuilds he comes up with make this an effortless learning experience.
