Stay connected and ahead of the curve with nüvi 885T. This premium navigator features voice-activated navigation, lane assist with junction view, MSN Direct and hands-free calling capability. You can keep both hands on the wheel, tell nüvi where to go and maneuver complicated interchanges with ease. It comes with a widescreen display, preloaded maps and more.
The Garmin Nuvi 885T has a wide 4.4-inch LCD screen. Notable features include Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling, MP3 player, photo viewer, video games, voice recognition, and a trip computer. It is traffic capable with an included MSN receiver. With the premium service, it can also provide weather and gas price information. The Nuvi 885T includes preloaded maps for the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Bird's eye view map, Great touch screen, Many settings and options, MSN info, Quick start and routing, Simple voice control, Solid mounting, Finding best routes, Navigating in city, Traffic info, Weather updates.
TomTom 740 requires a monthly subscription to their info/update service while Garmin's MSN service gives you the opportunity to pay one time for a lifetime subscription, after a free, 3-month trial. And TomTom's US maps are not as detailed or accurate as Garmin's.
The 885T is great for finding the best way from one location to another, and finding routes quickly based on drive time, distance, and other options. It's Point-of-Interest feature helps you find banks, restaurants, red light cameras and more. The voice commands are simple and intuitive. It also quickly re-routes you if you go off the designated path. Speedy re-routing is critical when driving in the city, and a top feature.
MSN service is good. Good Voice Recognition. Best for Personal navigation.
The Garmin Nuvi 885T is an improvement over the previous Nuvi 880. It has the latest Garmin software that includes a reality view and lane guidance to help navigate through major, potentially confusing intersections, such as when changing highways. The voice recognition is fully integrated allowing the user to operate all menus, whereas most voice recognition systems are typically limited to address entry. Although there is room for improvement, it is the most effective, full-function voice recognition system on the portable market.
The Nuvi 885T includes Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling, MP3 player, photo viewer, and a trip computer, along with unique extras like a calculator, video games, voice recognition, unit converter, and currency converter. It is traffic capable with an included MSN receiver, and with the service, it can also provide extras such as weather, gas prices, flight times, and local events. Its verbal directions include specific street names when navigating. A speed limit icon appears for major roadways. "Where am I?" function provides the nearest intersection and can help find or contact the nearest emergency services. Includes a large range of voice languages.

AC power cable included?
Indicates whether the unit comes with an AC connector to power and charge the unit. This feature also allows you to use the unit inside your home so that you can program it in advance, research a route, or practice using it--even if the unit does not have a rechargeable battery.
No
USB cable included?
A USB cable is used to connect the portable navigation device to a computer for updating maps and transferring data, including address, custom points of interest, music, and firmware updates.
Yes
Replaceable battery?
A rare feature, some units have a removable battery. Should the original battery expire, the ability to replace it could extend the functional life of the portable device, without depending on a plug-in power source for operation. A value of NA indicates that the unit does not have an internal battery.
Yes
Memory storage:
Indicates how the unit stores files for audio, photo, and video content. Often maps for different countries are accessed using SD cards, too.

Entering destination/POI:
Based on the logic and ease of programming an address or point of interest into the system. Includes whether the database allows dynamic searching for addresses, if letters are grayed out, ease of entering into navigation menus upon start-up, and ease of finding points of interest.
Excellent
Routing options:
Based on the number of options for fine-tuning the route plotted by the system. Includes multi-destination routing, avoidance of toll roads, biking routes, walking routes, and RV/truck use. Also includes availability of foreign map databases.
Excellent
Mount design:
Considers how the mount is engineered, factoring size, security, and ease of installation.
Excellent
Portability:
Based on the size and weight of the unit, as well the size of the mount and the ability to easily detach the mount for packing.
Excellent
Traffic interface:
Rates the presentation of the traffic information and the ability to put the data into use. Rating factors include antenna design, color coding for traffic severity, depth of information, estimated time for delay, and tools for rerouting around congestion. However, we do not rate the accuracy or timeliness of the traffic information itself.
Excellent
Weight (oz.):
Measured weight of just the unit (excluding mount) in ounces rounded to the nearest tenth.
6.5
Info for driver:
