When Jesus walked the earth over 2,000 years ago he would speak using illustrations and parables. When he wanted to teach us not to judge others He used a illustration about removing a board from your own eye before attempting to pull a piece of dirt from another person's. When He talked about loving your enemies He told a illustration called the Good Samaritan.

Now churches throughout the world are rediscovering the art of teaching through the use of illustrations. We have at our disposal the greatest story-telling medium in the world...video. Thousands of churches are now armed with quality video projection gear which makes using media and videoan incredibly dramatic way to instruct people the Gospel.

Due to the general small expense of video production gear many churches are starting to use their own ideas to tell powerful stories using this art form. But other churches that may not have the cretivity, money or time to produce video pieces are now also able to benefit from this exciting tool by using media created by other churches or production houses.

Churches from all over the world are now creating short sermon videos a part of their regular gathering. With the accessibility of the internet they are able to watch, buy and download high quality videos straight to their computer. After download they are able to simply create a DVD or show it directly from their computer.

Churches are also using other creative media such as countdown timers (five minute videos that countdown to the start of the service), images, and sermon outline packages to create exciting and engaging sermons of the Word of God.

For those churches that decide to step out and use technology they are discovering that the old complaint of church being "boring" is a thing of the past. Jesus was certainly not boring in his sermons and it is up to the churches in our generation to present the Good News in as captivating of a way as possible.

So today is the day to start usingchurch media to create dynamic sermons!
