"Things Only Happen When You Believe They Will"by Jerry Waxman"The Magic of Believing" has helped thousands reform their lives.
"The Magic of Believing" (Abridged)by Claude M. Bristol
"You have to think big to be big."
"The person with a fixed goal, a clear picture of his desire, or an ideal always before him, causes it, through repetition, to be buried deeply in his subconscious mind and is thus enabled, thanks to its generative and sustaining power, to realize his goal in a minimum of time and with a minimum of physical effort. Just pursue the thought unceasingly. Step by step you will achieve realization, for all your faculties and powers become directed to that end." Claude Bristol

I found out the hard way. It's not enough to "know" you have the same potential as anyone else. It's not enough to "understand" the concepts. The only way you can be anything is when you truly believe you are that something.
The opposite is also true. If you don't believe in yourself, you'll have no end of difficulty amounting to what you desire.

Is there some force, or factor, or power, or science -- call it what you will -- which a few people understand and use to overcome their difficulties and achieve outstanding success? I firmly believe that there is, and it is my purpose in this book to try to explain it so that you can use it if you desire. Claude Bristol
Does a bumble bee fly only because it doesn't know that it can't? Once, when I was a kid, I jumped off a garage roof with an umbrella. Up to that time, there was nothing in my experience to tell me I wouldn't fly. Well, I didn't fly, but I didn't get hurt either. And I think that's because the idea of getting hurt just never crossed my mind. In my high school gym class, I ended up wrestling a tag team alone. Both guys outweighed me. And at least one of those guys had more muscle than me. In my mind, I did not see me getting taken down even once. And I won on points - their collective score was "0." I guess, as we go through life, we forget these little moments when we were heroes. And experiences pile up. We shape our thoughts and our feelings based on the experiences we have. And that could be a mistake. As Tony Robbins says, "The past does not equal the future." If we believe that our collection of experiences defines who we are, then we're like prisoners of our past. BUT, we can believe -- we can train ourselves to believe -- what is really true. And that is we can have an all new set of experiences, with an all new set of positive feelings to go along with them. I think this is what Claude Bristol was driving at when he wrote, "The Magic of Believing" in 1948. Did you know that he wrote his book mainly for the service men and women coming back from war and finding difficulty to adjust? I think that's what attracted me to "The Magic of Believing." We are in something like a war, when you come down to it. It's getting harder to make a buck, and people around us seem to be less hospitable than before. There seems to be more hostility, today. Lots of people are ready to blame anyone -- including you -- for their failures. Our job is to NOT believe them. Only believe in what is right about you.
