There are literally hundreds of different types of home assembly jobs out there. Some are legit, some are not. But I’ll save that discussion for another article. Right now I would like to give you a brief overview of each type of job and an example of a product you might be required to make. Below are five of the most common home assembly jobs. Though there is more out there than what is listed, these are the top five that you will most likely encounter during your search.

Sewing

Sewing home assembly jobs are typically used in making small to medium sized items. Some examples of this would be sewing doll clothes, making baby bibs, or assembling plush animals. Most companies will give you the choice between hand stitching or using a sewing machine, though some specifically require one or the other method of making their product. Most of the time, all materials are provided, minus the sewing machine, of course. If getting involved in such a home assembly job, I would highly recommend that you either currently own a sewing machine or plan on investing in one, as it will drastically cut down on your production time as well as improve the overall quality of your finished projects.

Miniatures

Producing miniatures can range from something as simple as cutting out miniature decks of cards (a project I’ve personally worked on) to making dollhouse furniture. Being as how you’re supposed to be making exact replicas of life sized objects, attention to detail is a must for this line of work. Most companies that offer miniature home assembly employment will allow you to choose from many different projects. The different projects will usually be assigned a difficulty level and a pay rate that reflects that difficulty level. If you’re a beginner, I highly recommend starting at that level. Take it from some one who has been there, these products are more difficult to make than meets the eye.

Jewelry

Jewelry home assembly jobs usually involve making necklaces, bracelets, and pins. Think of stringing beads, twisting wire, and occasionally having to break out the hot glue gun. The company will supply you with all of the materials you need to assemble the product, but most of the time you are required to purchase your own tools. (pliers, wire cutter, hot glue gun, ect.)

Envelope stuffers

Need I say more on what you’d be doing with this job? It’s pretty self explanatory. Imagine spending however many hours a day folding and stuffing brochures or other paper objects into envelopes. This is a high volume job which requires you to do quite a bit of work to get paid. I mean, seriously, how much effort does it take to stick a piece of paper in an envelope?

Crafts

With this one I’d really have to say that the company’s imagination is the limit. I have seen some very interesting craft projects ranging from painting clay figures to assembling baskets. Companies that do not specialize in a single product will usually have a catalog of items for you to choose from, much like with the miniatures business. These items are also ranked by difficulty and are paid accordingly. I would highly recommend this type of work for someone who gets bored with a repetitious job quickly, as there are plenty of different projects to stimulate your mind with.

And that is a basic overview of the most common types of home assembly jobs. There are literally hundreds of different home assembly jobs out there that are not mentioned in this article, some you would never imagine in your entire lifetime . . . like putting together fly fishing lures. Yes, there is really a home assembly job that does that.

The key to being successful with a home assembly job is to find something that you enjoy doing. Try not to focus so much on what project pays the most. Remember, this is something you’ll be doing repetitiously for many hours of your day. If you enjoy what you’re doing, it makes it feel less like a job. I think that’s what we all strive for in terms of working.

If home assembly sounds like something you might be interested in, you will find a link to my favorite home assembly company below. The item you produce is quick to make, and the company gives you the option to sell your finished product on your own instead of back to the company. The product sells incredibly well and holds potential to make some serious income. For more information, click here.
