Customer Reviews Impressive by .. Relentless (Gainesville, FL) As of this writing, these headphones are selling for about $50. Simply put, I'd pay $100+ for them. I'm impressed about both the quality build and the quality of sound. You can readily hear the difference when you compare these to any consumer grade headphones (including Bose brand). You can hear the nuance in of each sound. Since they have a flat response in the range, the sound feels VERY, VERY real. One of the problems I've had with Bose in particular is that they do "mess" with the sound to make it sound "better" but their definition of better is not necessarily what I want. I was very pleased that Audio-Technica did not meddle with the sound. I learned of Audio-Technica some 10 years ago at a friend's studio and never bothered to get some for myself because I never knew they being a studio grade brand were so affordable.
In short, if you like to hear or listen to your music or audio w/o any heaphone "pumping" or "boost" these Audio-Technicas are the BEST value in the market right now.
Music to My Ears by .. JJ Tex (Amarillo, Texas USA) Audio Technica manufactures some of the finest performing headphones for your listening pleasure and this particular model is in my opinion, the best of their line. The sound compares to the Bose Quiet Comfort II but at only a fraction of the cost. I strongly recommend these headsets to all who love music and want to experience clear and crisp sound without
spending an arm and a leg, so to speak.
Great for the price by .. Michael Turley () These headphones are great for the price. They are very comfortable and their sound quality is vey good. The ear cups are large enough to fit outside the ears, thereby blocking out most nearby sound. By having ear cups that fit outside the ears, the sound does not have to be turned up as loud, which helps protect the ears.
Great value by .. George C. Hammond () Got these to use with a kit of Roland V-Drums after the original $30 off-brand that I got was disappointed. For less than $20 more, these are fantastic. They are true studio phones, which give a much truer sound than even the speakers I use. Great value for the money.
Not bad, but Beware!! by .. gac914 (IL United States) First off, these headphones do have a good sound. As other reviewers have noted, they are not for heavy rock listening at extreme volume. They are a studio phone - made to pick up every nuance of whatever you're listening to. The definition is very clear, and you hear much more than on other phones.
However, LET THE BUYER BEWARE!! These phones come with a 1/4 inch phone jack hard-wired in place!! While years ago this would have been the norm, almost everything now is set up for the smaller 1/8 inch style jack - other phones I've bought come with the smaller end, and an adapter that lets you adapt to the larger 1/4 size if needed. This caused me to have to buy adapters to fit everything, and what you end up with is this big gangly adapter hanging off the little end plugged in to your equipment! This smaller-to-bigger adapter makes for a delicate connection - one just begging to get cracked off without a lot of effort.
It's a real pain (not to mention the extra money!) Bottom line, good phones, not much planning done on the connection.
