On the outside it looks fine, but the inside metal is all rusted making it extremely difficult to raise or lower the stand. The metal supports at the bottom came already bent also. If you want to buy a stand that will last a long time and are going to use it frequently, then do NOT buy this stand. Pay a little extra money for the other higher quality wire music stands. I would definitely recommend it. I don't know how it compares to other stands but this has perfectly met our needs and has stood the abuse of a 6th grader with grace. The stand folds very small but seems sturdy enough, at least for the music books she has. Works for lighter material, collapses with heavy books by .. John Anderson (Verona, WI) I bought this for my fiancee to use with her digital piano and it works well enough for lighter books and sheet music however the extending piece on top can not hold the heavier Joplin music book that she bought. The piece that's supposed to keep the upper part extended slips and the stand goes down to half size -- not very good. So this stand works well enough to hold lighter music but fails completely with heavier music books. For the price though, works decently well. fabulous music stand by ..
