Get up in front of a huge to crowd to dance as husband and wife - scary. After it's over, you realize it wasn't so bad. But, why is the first dance with your beloved such an embarrassment if you have the option to get dance instruction?
Now that the wedding is over. A wedding can have many scary moments, the scariest has to be that first dance. It's such a shame really because it's your very first dance as a married couple and it should be the epitome of romance and love. Instead, it feels a bit uncomfortable with all your family and friends standing around the dance floor watching you.. That is not to say that it's not fantastic to share your wedding day with all your nearest and dearest but it can be difficult to be the center of attention during the first dance. Who would have thought that it could be so stressful? I am sure I represent many that have felt the same way. It definitely explains why many future spouses get dance instruction before the wedding. Nobody wants to be teased for the rest of their lives about their performance! There was one good thing, we could finally stop during this non-stop crazy day and do something intimate together. We could discuss the events of the day, how it had all turned out so well, how happy we were, how nice it was that relatives from far away had managed to come, etc. All the things that we [or should I say 'I'] had been worrying about for so many months didn't seem to matter anymore because it has all turned out so well.
I didn't realize how significant the first dance was until months later. Our dear friends were about to have their first dance at their wedding. The lights were dimmed and 'their song' started to play as the happy couple took to the dance floor. All the guests started to make a circle around the floor, cameras in hand, and the crowd 'ooh-ed' and 'ahh-ed' filled the room everybody clapped and cheered. My husband's and my hands met, our eyes met, we smiled. Throughout the catering hall, many married couples were doing the same, remembering how special their own weddings were. Then it was obvious what made that first dance so special. It reminds married couples of their own special moments.
Don't dread - look forward to that special moment at your own coming wedding. Everyone wants to share in your special moment together because it reminds them of their special day. Seeing you in love is all your loved ones care about. The first dance is an intimate occasion between the newly married couple. It's the type of occasion that - even though it may be intimidating - will be remembered and treasured for the rest of your lives. Spice Up the Party specializes in working with wedding couples.
