Customer Reviews

First time Mac user.. by .. Stephanie M ()
This is my first Mac and I was impressed with how easy it was to get up and running. Connected effortlessly to my wireless network. I'm still learning the operating system but I'm getting there.

The notebook itself is sturdy. It doesn't seem to get as warm as my previous laptops did..I do think the superdrive is a little noisy when you first load it, but I believe this is normal.

I had been debating for a while about making the switch from a PC to a Mac, but I'm glad I did. This computer is perfect for my needs and was priced fairly.

better graphics chipset, 4gb capable, and 64 bit ready by .. avid mac user (los angeles, ca)
Just recently received the latest white macbook with nvidia graphics chipset, 2.0ghz, 2 gb ram and loving it
so far. I own and am now selling my older gma950 macbook and spent many happy years with it. One difference i have noticed is my older one had a wee bit better keyboard, but minor. And the vents on back, below the swivel screen are more open on this newer model.. thus maybe to help with heat distribution as i've heard and am finding out this newer one is a tad cooler. Other than those two minor details, this newer model looks to be a nice improvement internally from my older gma950.

Leopard is a nice upgrade from Tiger, and i've not yet dived into it fully. I've heard Snow Leopard will be
coming out soon and will take full advantage of the 64 bit core 2 duo chipset as it will be 64 bit OS X.
(google apple os x snow leopard and read more yourself). For now, Leopard will prove to keep me busy.

I plan to add 2 X 2gb sticks ram to this macbook, and as i've done it on my old one(upgrading from 1 to 2),
it really IS easy! (try third party ram and save money, check reviews here on amazon), but even with the 2gb
this new macbook runs fast as is!

About people who might have a problem with sharper edges around touch-pad. I can't comment on this
as i've hardly ever used touch-pad on my older macbook, as i personally found a mouse to be much more
efficient and user friendly than touch-pad. Try it with a mouse! you may like it too and never go without
one. These days, most mice are sensitive enough to work on just about any surface... my only advice is
make sure to turn off touch-pad should you go the mouse path.

i personally have never looked back at windows once i started using macs many years ago. The OS just feels more solid and user friendly, doesn't crash like my old PC with windows.. nor did i have to run virus software to remove bad data, etc. I just feel safer with OS X. And now with 3rd party programs, u can run windows on
mac if u need to, the best of both worlds. Check out your local apple store to see in person and learn more
about macs to decide. After all, it is a big purchase decision.. but to me personally, an obvious one.
(they hold their resell value nicely too!, should you wanna upgrade to latest macbook someday)

You think Apple computers are more reliable? Think again! by .. claire ()
I bought this macbook less then a year ago because I love Mac OS. And I still do.

Yet, I have serious complaints about the machine itself. First, the part under the wrist is edgy and scratchy and plain unconfortable. And the result of your wrists rubbing the edge of the keyboard plate is the keyboard plate eventually crumbling away! Then the AC adaptor stopped charging and eventually, micro cracks appeared on the bottom chassis. All this in less then a year on a machine that hardly ever moves (I work from home)!!! The machine never fell nor received any shock...

I took the macbook to an apple authorized service center for repair. They agreed to change the keyboard and the adaptor, but say apple does not cover the chassis. The technician at the repair center felt sorry for me and suggested I call apple. I did and they said the cracks on the chassis are not supposed to happen, so they are not covered, so tough luck for me! I asked to be put through to a manager, but the apple support technician bluntly refused saying the procedures where not to be discussed.

In the last 15 years of working in the computer industry, I have used a lot of laptops. I used to carry my laptop around to customer sites and back all the time, yet I've never seen a laptop get micro cracks in the chassis in under a year! And my mac hardly ever moves! You can get a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo PC for half that price, so where is the quality we're supposed to be paying for?

Next time I might try and purchase a more powerfull yet cheaper PC, buy a MAC OS and install it. That could save me some money and frustration!

Will NEVER go back to a PC! by .. Leah Daves (AR, USA)
I just recently switched from a HP laptop to a white macbook. I have never liked Macs before because I thought they were "techy", complicated, and everything seemed backward. It did take me about a week to get used to it but I would never go back now. After listening to the Apple guy at best buy's lecture on how great these computers were I never looked back. Sure, they may be more expensive but it's well worth it. The fact that I won't have to worry about the dreaded viruses and spyware hacking my bank account and credit cards was enough for me, but the features of this book far surpass anything a PC has. These boot up so fast in half (or less) the time that it took for my hp. There are a few (small) issues I have with this laptop though. The outside of the book got pretty scratched just after a week or so of not having a cover on it, but I did buy one through apple's website and that took care of that. I missed my right click mouse button so I bought a wireless one for under $30. iWork 09 doesn't come with it and it's a $100 extra dollars. I feel like they should include this program instead of ones not all of us will use like iMovie and Garageband. It has the equivilant of Microsoft office- Powerpoint (keynote) Word (Pages) and Excel (Numbers) with so many more features and templates than the Microsoft version. The customer service at Apple is also excellent, fast, and friendly. They are soooo very knowledgeable and passionate about their product. I hope this review has compelled you to toss your PC (as if the hilarious commercials weren't enough and they're so spot on) and get a Mac.

Love it by .. Chris Pinto (Long Beach Township, NJ United States)
I just got it the other day so Im still getting familiar with it..
2 things so far VERY little issue...
Battery takes FOREVER to charge I dont let it get down to where it in the red zone either...
also cant believe price jumped up at bit strange......
but get it worth it I am windows user since 96 and this IS much simpler to navigate. Will be even more when I get fully used to it...
Maybe a bit pricy but apple makes it worth it. Just be wary of new upgrade of new OS I heard its buggy....
So I didnt upgrade with the disc that came with machine...
