Kanji 'Aikido' Necklace
Aikido - Aikido dates back to the early 1920's when Usehiba Morhei, borrowing in part from Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu, created what is known as Aikido.
The Kanji for Aikido consists of three characters: Ai means Harmony; Ki means Spirit or Life Energy and Do means Path or Way. Together Aikido means - "The Way of the Harmonious Spirit".
What makes Aikido unique is it's philosphy to defend without hurting the attacker. "To control agression without inflicting injury is the art of peace." - Ueshiba Morihei.
Aiki is the martial arts tactic of blending with an attacker to use the attackers movements for the purpose of controlling but not hurting an attacker. Rather than blocking a punch, the force of the punch is redirected to the defenders benefit.
Artist and beautful to watch, the flowing movements of Aikido created by the defender blending and redirecting with the attacker is truly a difficult Martial Art to master.
Celebrate all that is Aikido with our Kanji Aikido necklace.
All of our necklaces are separately crafted and hand painted and with the use of traditional Chinese knots, each necklace is it's own minature piece of art. No two Kanji necklaces are alike - each is as different as the person that wears them.

About Kanji Necklaces
The origins of Kanji and Kanji calligraphy date back to the 3rd century when fleeing Buddhist monks from China found sanctuary in Japan. Free from persecution, the monks developed a highly creative form of Kanji art which we see today.
Many eastern traditional spiritual leaders believe that through Kanji the inner Chi is both re-affirmed and strengthened. As in yoga and the martial arts, connecting with the inner self brings focus - focus brings peace of mind, body and spirit.
Each Kanji symbol is representative of a persons inner Chi (spirit).
Express and strengthen your own inner Chi with our unique handmade uisex Kanji pendant necklaces.
We use only natural materials (hemp, leather, hemlock) in the making of our necklaces.
