Peyrouat is an
old Gascon farm hamlet, now divided into two properties, and consisting
of several stone buildings. This pretty 18th century cottage is the
oldest building on the site and has been recently restored to include
all modern comforts whilst retaining many original features such as
stonework, beams, fireplace. The grounds are extensive with lots of
trees, open land for playing games and,of course, the 11 x 5 metres
swimming pool (shared with the owner, and occasionally family/friends
or chambres d'hote guests. There are no other gites or rental units on
the site so guests enjoy a high level of privacy and tranquility. The
property is situated in the middle of the beautiful Gers countryside
patterned with woods, vineyards and fields of wheat and sunflowers.
Just on the doorstep is the GR65 footpath taking pilgrims on the route
to Compostella in Northern Spain.
Guests can use the paths or
the empty roads to walk or drive to any number of beautiful mediaeval
bastide villages. Montreal at 6 kilometres is a central Gers wine and
armagnac village. This is the Tenareze, heart of Armagnac country with
the town centres of Condom and Eauze just a short drive away.
