It
started off when I was taking my daughter to the park to play. I had
the day off, it was a Monday and I usually have to work but it was such
a nice day I decided to play "sick." My daughter is 5 years old and
loves the swings. It was around 1:30 in the afternoon and it was a
gorgeous day! My daughter and I unloaded out of my "old" Dodge Caravan
and instantly she took off towards the swings .. you just can't stop
her. I sat down on one of the benches to watch and soak up some sun.
Just a few minutes later a boy about my daughters age hopped into the
swing next to her, they were having a blast. All of a sudden the little
boy slipped out of the swing and did an immediate "face plant" into the
sand. My motherly instincts kicked in and I ran as fast as I could to
him. He was crying and a total mess, he had sand in his eyes and mouth.
I rushed him over to the watering fountain to try and get the sand out
of his eyes. As I was splashing water on his face this woman ran over,
she was panting pretty hard. It was the little boy's mother .. she must
have been sitting in her car in the parking lot. We finished cleaning
up her son and she thanked me profusely .. I think she felt bad because
she couldn't get there fast enough. I told her I was happy to help her.
After her son Eric got cleaned up he immediately went back to the
swings.. I love how kids bounce back. A few more hours passed and it
was starting to get dark so I grabbed the kiddo and started heading
back to the car ... I couldn't help but notice the brand new Jaguar XK7 convertible
sitting in the parking lot ... I thought to myself "I will never have a
car like that..." Just then the door swung open, it was Erics mother...
Sarah. She came rushing over and thanked me again for helping out
little Eric, and offered to have me and my daughter over for dinner. I
agreed and we decided to meet up next weekend.
I went back to work Tuesday and dreaded it. I
couldn't stop thinking about Sarah .. I mean what did she do for a
living to afford such a nice car? She didn't look a day over 30 and she
was driving a brand new Jaguar.. What was she doing at the park in the
middle of the day? I brushed it off thinking maybe she was
married to someone with money. It seemed like the slowest week ever,
now don't get me wrong I wasn't totally dissatisfied with my life, I
mean I made a decent living but I still dreaded going to work every day. I wanted to do something fun and exciting... something I actually enjoyed doing so it wouldn't seem like work.
