Gite in Riberac(La Petite Grange )

La Petite Grange is a converted 16th century stone barn, with lots of character, big beams and typical French charm. Well appointed and comfortably furnished, the barn is situated in the heart of a 'petit hameau' at the crest of a hill overlooking the Charente/Dordogne border. The surrounding countryside is agricultural mainly set to wheat, maize or big yellow sunflowers. The area is quiet and unspoilt but has plenty of interesting things to do and see -activities such as horse riding; kyaking; swimming; visiting local markets; golf; walking and cycling for the energetic and plenty of historical and architectural interest for the not so active. Lots of bistro type bars and restaurants, typical french markets, beautiful views, excellent wines and pastries to die for!

La Jemaye, a large watersports area can be found in the centre of the Forest on the other side of Riberac, where canoes can hired. Wind surfing and swimming are also popular here and there are several restuarant/bars and plentiful free parking. Pinic areas, nature trails and exercise work out apparatus surround the large lake. For those needing some retail therapy - Angouleme is an hour's drive to the north.
