Fondaumier Farmhouse (sleeps 10) and adjacent Cottage (sleeps 8) are set on 12 acres of rolling Dordogne countryside with glorious views across the valley to farms, fields and forests. Each has a private garden and sun terrace and they share the large swimming pool, children’s play area and wonderful views. Outside high season only the Cottage is available.

The Farmhouse dates from 1881 and is over 30 metres long. Approached from the parking area in front through a chestnut tree archway and a tiled porch, entry is to the traditional farmhouse kitchen with huge perigordian fireplace. A second large fireplace exists in the adjacent lounge/diner which features great views to the rear and patio doorway to garden seating at the front. All accommodation is on a single floor, the ground floor when entered from the front of the house but the first floor as seen from the rear. The rear of the farmhouse is covered in virginia creeper and overlooks the walled garden. At one corner is a large Pigeonnier. The walled garden sits above the surrounding meadow land and hence offers wonderful views across the valley.

The Cottage is a recent conversion of half of a huge barn. It has been constructed in the local style to retain the beautiful golden stone walls and provide cool porcelain flooring. Oak beams add character to the ceilings and the stairway to the four large bedrooms upstairs. Approached from the parking area in front through a mass of flowers in pots, barrels and troughs entry is to an open-plan lounge/diner with traditional perigordian fireplace. The kitchen is off the main room and provides lovely views across the garden. The rear of the cottage faces east and the terrace attracts the morning sun, ideal for al fresco breakfasts and afternoon and evening barbecues when you are looking for some respite from the hottest part of the day. The garden provides lots of play and lounging space and a huge walnut tree for shade. It is a gentle stroll to the poolside and the play area.
